Principal's Message

I extremely happy for our students to have the opportunity to experience mental health in a constructive manner. The importance of mental health is more prevalent than ever before and we can see why it’s so crucial in our daily lives.

The wellness room is an outlet that will provide students with the tools and a pathway to help regulate and self-center themselves when they are in need. I am proud of Heritage's forward thinking in this arena and look forward to the success and education in mental health this will develop in each of us.

How can a student visit the HHS Wellness Center?

The Heritage High School Wellness Center, known as the Zen Den, is open daily before, during, and after school. Students can schedule visits during class with the teacher's permission. Staff will alternate periods for appointments and group sessions to minimize class disruptions. Students will receive call slips for appointments, including brief counseling sessions or wellness breaks lasting 10-15 minutes, limited to once a day.

The center is open for drop-ins during lunch and after school until 3:30 pm, providing a safe space for emotional regulation and private discussions. Guidelines for center use include no cell phone usage, no food or drinks, and no socializing with friends. Weekly group counseling sessions are available; contact Mrs. Guerrero for details.

Counseling team

The role of the school counselor is to acknowledge and address the importance of mental health services to foster the social and emotional well-being and growth of every student.

School counselors actively support students' mental health needs through educational efforts that boost awareness of mental well-being, assessment and guidance regarding academic, career, and social-emotional development, brief counseling interventions when needed, and facilitating connections to long-term community resources for sustained support.

At Heritage High School, our counselors are equipped to recognize mental health warning signs, offer brief counseling, and connect students with additional support resources in both the school and the community
